I made a commitment to show up at a particular meeting and read something for 30 seconds every Sunday night. Every Sunday night I don’t want to go.

I think about the things that feel important that I could do during that time. I think about the things I haven’t finished yet. I think about it being Sunday night and wanting to finish my rest before recommitting to my work tomorrow.

And every Sunday I do it anyway.

What I’m learning is that I learn very different things from the things I do when I want to do them and the things I do because I said I would.

Does it hurt anyone if I don’t show up at the meeting? Someone else will just read the announcement. Everyone knows it by heart.

Yes, It would hurt me. Because what I’m learning is to show up for the things I said I would do, and there is a new lesson every week.

Just show up.
